Dr. Pamela Bhatti  Pamela Bhatti received the B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1989; the M.S.E.E. degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1993; and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2006. She joined the faculty of Georgia Institute of Technology in January 2007. Her industry experience includes clinical processing of controlled release drug delivery systems at Alza Corporation in Mountain View, Calif.; applications engineering with Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector in Austin, Tex.; and developing embedded systems software with Microware Systems Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa. She also served as a Clinical Trials Research Associate with the Department of Radiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and investigated breast cancer detection using 3-D Doppler ultrasound imaging. Dr. Bhatti’s current research interests are in the general area of biomedical sensors and subsystems, bioMEMS, and microelectronics.

The Coding of Sound by a Cochlear ProsthesisIn this project, students learn how cochlear implants work to improve the lives of people with profound hearing loss.
